What were you grateful for this week?
I’m most grateful for my host dad. He just does little things for me that are really thoughtful.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
Learning how to use public transportation.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I bought the grandma some macaroons from Rome because she always cooks my meals.

Tell us about your week!
So on a quick decision I decided to take a train to Rome. It worked out perfectly with my host dad’s work schedule so he could take me. He is so awesome!!

I found a cute airbnb in the center of Rome. I did basically every basic thing, the Trevi fountain, pantheon, coliseum, Vatican. My favorite was definitely the Vatican. Just the buildings and statues are all so big and beautiful. The Catholic Church definitely has played a part of Italy’s history and it was really interesting to learn about. There were some hard things about Rome though. The heat was insane it was so humid and hot. Public transportation is not my friend. I got lost so many times. But I love eating whatever I wanted which was basically just pizza, crepes, and gelato. I also finally bought a travel journal so I can keep track of my experiences. Also what I loved about Rome is that most of the cathedrals are open to the public and I love love love cathedrals I think they are so old and beautiful.

On Friday I took a train to Florence and it was cloudy and rainy and it was so beautiful!!! I loved how clean and small Florence was compared to Rome. And a break from the heat was nice. I mistakingly booked the wrong train home. So I had to buy another ticket back to Rome. But it’s okay this whole week was an adventure and learning experience. I also met some American girls and a girl from New Zealand traveling by themselves as well and we spent the day together at the colosseum and added each other on Instagram to follow each other’s adventures. It was my favorite week so far!!
