What were you grateful for this week?

Being able to meet yet another Rome Abroad traveler!

What was the most challenging part of this week?

Trying to figure out new things to do with the kids that would help them feel more comfortable interacting with me.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.

I like to randomly tidy up while my host family is out so that they come back to a clean house!

Tell us about your week!

This week was a little long, mostly before the kids got out of school earlier than usual every day so I was asked to do more hours. But it was a good week of continuing to figure out what my host kids like to do/don’t enjoy doing! I’m finding that each child in my family is very different in what they enjoy doing, so I spent some time this week brainstorming activities what were more specific to each child.

I also spent a morning walking down to see St. Peter’s Basilica and got there early to avoid the crowds. It was stunning! I opted to take the stairs rather than the elevator to the top of the dome, and climbed up to see a beautiful view of Rome. It’s such a beautiful city. Last but not least, I took a day trip on the weekend to see a little town that I read about online named Civita di Bagnoregio, and WHAT a place. Civita is smack dab in the middle of a beautiful valley, and it the smallest city I’ve seen thus far in Italy. It is only accessible my foot, and you have to walk on a bridge up to its entrance. The town is beautiful and honestly falling apart as the cliffs that it sits on slowly rot away. So it was another good week of seeing more of Rome and the little towns surrounding it.
