What were you grateful for this week?My host family is very nice.
What was the most challenging part of this week?I got the stomach flu my third night here and that was hard being sick in a place that isn’t my home.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I brought my kids some cards from the United States and they love playing with them.
Tell us about your week!My week was short since I arrived on Thursday. The travel was long and tiring. However, my weekend was full of meeting friends and trying new food. I was tired from jet lag but powered through. I also got sick and that was a big challenge for me. It was hard to get sick away from your own home and not really know where everything is. But, it was a good lesson and now I am more prepared if this is to happen again (hopefully not).
On Sunday, we went to the city center. It was nice to learn about my host families way of life. I enjoyed walking around the town and hearing my family talk about all the history that is in my town. We also went and had tapas which are a traditionally Spanish style food. The two children are very nice and they do their best to speak English. The parents also know a good amount of English and that makes me feel more comfortable here as I’m working on my Spanish. I am going to continue to work on my Spanish with the parents and hopefully the girls will learn some more English. I am looking forward to next weekend because it is a festival for the town so I will be able to learn more about the culture then as well.
