What were you grateful for this week?
Good medicine & lots of tea. When I came home from Paris, I was really sick with earache, body aches, fever and a sore throat…I actually lost my voice. Thank goodness for good medicine and tea everyday that kicked away the sickness quick!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Just coming home sick made it very difficult especially the first two days. I had no energy what’s so ever. Luckily my host family was quite understanding of the whole situation & let me rest. I couldn’t help but feel guilty that I had been gone all week, and then couldn’t really help out. And one of the days the little girl faked sick and had to come home from school. She didn’t understand that I was sick & wanted to do all the things that are hard to do when you are sick hahaha.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
Our house is quite crazy at times…there are lots & lots of toys. The babies love to pretty much empty out the toy box & not play with any of the toys just scatter them everywhere lol. Usually the nanny will pick it up after awhile, but this week I tried to make a game of it & have the babies help pick it it up too.
Tell us about your week!
The week at home was pretty slow. I was really sick for the first two days, and so not much happened. And then the rest of the week I mainly spent my time with the babies. I love it because one of the twins when in a certain mood will repeat. They actually talk more English than Italian sometimes…I don’t know if they quite understand it, but they will say “hello baby” & “goodbye” also they love to say “woooooow”
Other than the one day that [my host family’s daughter] faked sick & had to come home…I didn’t get to see much of her. We did get to spend an hour together one of the days. We colored Halloween pictures. She loved drawing & saying “bats”. She also tried on her Halloween costume & wanted me to do her make up.
On Friday, I went to Milan for a little bit & it actually turned into craziness because the trains went on strike. It usually quite easy to catch a train from Gallarate to Milan but EVERYTHING was getting cancelled and it took me an hour and a half of waiting at the station to finally get a train there and then I had to time it just right to make sure I was able to catch one back. It was stressful!
On Saturday it was actually my birthday! B, K & I flew to Berlin where we met up with a friend from home who is going to school in another part of Germany. We didn’t get there until a little bit later, so we ended up going out for sushi and then going to a few different bars! Berlin has a really great nightlife so we had a lot of fun!
Sunday was a lot more relaxed! It was very cold for one, we went to this really cute toast restaurant. We went to the bridge & Berlin Wall. And then we went to this really cool movie theater where we saw the new Halloween movie! It was so scary but also so fun to get popcorn & see a movie. The theater was huge!!!! We were out very late and actually it was Germany’s daylight savings on Sunday so we actually gained an extra hour haha, we slept for two hours and then had a very early flight home today. It was a quick trip this weekend and we did more relaxing things but I honestly enjoyed it!
