What were you grateful for this week?
I was so grateful I got little to no jet lag ever since landing here. I’ve been able to be present with my host family without being too tired and able to go out and explore this new city! Also, google translate for when my little host girl wants something and I can’t understand her 🙂
What was the most challenging part of this week?
The most challenging was understanding my little host girl. She’s so young that it’s hard for adults to understand her anyways, but she doesn’t speak any English so it’s difficult to understand what she’s saying. Besides that, I’ve started exploring the city and it’s a little nerve-wracking first going out by myself but I’ve been getting the hang of it!
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family and learning and bonding with them more, we get along so well! They’re going to Sicily in June and they’re bringing me along as well, so that is something I’m looking forward to!
Tell us about your week!
This week I went to Naples! It’s my first trip out of the city since I got here a couple days ago and it was so much fun! I got to finally meet some other Rome abroad girls and it was so good to have some friends! Also, it was good to be worth people from America and just catch up and talk about our experiences this far!
Something that I really loved in Naples was Fontanelle Cemetery, it was super humbling and amazing. Okay and the pizza and gelato were amazing as well! Castel Sant’Elmo was amazing as well, I hadn’t heard about it until I came to Italy and I am so amazed by the structures people were able to build centuries ago! It amazes me!
Another thing is that I’ve been exploring is this city! It is absolutely adorable! All the buildings have character, and there is a big green mountain and the sea right next to it. This place is beautiful and I love exploring it this far, especially finding the best gelato shop. I went and got gelato and brought it to the beach. Picked up a couple seashells along the way! I am so excited I am in this city for the rest of summer, and with this family as well!
