What were you grateful for this week?
Playing mini soccer with the family and having a blast.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Being the judge when it comes to disagreements between them. I hate being the bad guy and no matter what you end up being it sometimes so that was hard to do.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
When the boys don’t feel well, I like to get them hot chocolate or build a fort with them to make them feel better.
Tell us about your week!
It was a quiet week with the boys spending a lot of time over the weekend with friends. I got to get out and explore the city some more, get lost on some back roads again, find some awesome street art, and catch the non-tourist side of Rome.
The beauty of staying here for a long time is that you get to experience what life is like as a resident. You don’t have to cram everything into a week. You don’t have to see every site in 3 days so that you don’t miss anything. You can sit at the top of a hill and just take it in. You can walk around the city aimlessly and get lost and not worry about having something to tell your friends and family when you go home. I got to walk down a street I didn’t know and find a cute cafe to try tomorrow. I walked to my favorite bar without a map’s help and got to meet some very interesting people 🙂
When I sit and think I haven’t done enough, I try to remind myself that I am living in Rome and everything I do is a story I will tell later in life about the life-changing time that I spent in Rome in my 20s. Look for it in a bookstore near you ha. The only thing I have yet to do is a few museums but those I can check off easily. It is the joie de vivre that you cannot plan.
