What were you grateful for this week?
I arrived safely after a long flight and was welcomed by a warm and wonderful family
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Dealing with the jetlag.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I do my best to help out around the house without being asked to. Take out the trash, clean up after meals. It is only my first week but I want to be a positive presence in the house.
Tell us about your week!
I got to meet the boys and I got a glimpse into what my life will be like for the next three months. We took some photos using the polaroid camera that I brought which they really seem to enjoy! I will have to be careful to keep track of how many photos we take, but I am more thrilled they enjoy it and are excited about photography. Plus, I can look around at shops to see if they sell the film.
We walked around the neighborhood and ate at this wonderful restaurant, where I got to try an Italian artichoke dish and another Italian pasta recipe, I really cannot get enough pasta. I should slow down, I got three months and I haven’t even started on the gelato or pizza yet!
Also, I had my first real Italian breakfast, espresso and cornetto. I of course had to get a picture of that!
I enjoy getting to spend time with them, to learn about them and their lives. I eagerly anticipate the times I will spend with them both in an educational setting, helping with homework, and just playing games (card games, sports, and maybe (hopefully!!) a learning game if I play my cards right). They are eager to learn new ones and have already beaten me at a game I literally just taught them. It will be a constant learning experience for me, but I look forward to it all. I am excited to do my best and be a good role model for them throughout our time together.
