What were you grateful for this week?
This week I was grateful for patience.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
The most challenging was that this week was the first time I had the kids alone and had to make sure they shower, bathed, etc. It was a little tough to get them to do the things that they needed to do because they wanted to play and they like to try to negotiate things. After some deliberation with them, they finally did what was asked of them and were great. It’s important to remember to be patient and to set standards with them so that they know what is expected from them and what they can expect from you.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
This week I made dinner for my host mama twice. She works everyday until about 9 pm and she gets home and has to still cook a meal for herself and even makes enough for me. This week, I took it upon myself to be the one to make dinner for her on the days that she is alone and she was very grateful for it.
Tell us about your week!
This week was great! I got to know the kids a little better. I was able to spend a little more time in the city center this week. It is breathtaking. So many beautiful sights in one place. I made a friend as well this week. His name is Gabriele and he is born and raised in Rome. He took me to the most gorgeous orange garden. The best part about the garden was that at the edge of it, there is a terrace of sorts where you can see the entire city center. It was such a great view! There was also a street musician playing music and several brides taking wedding pictures and getting married in the church next door. It really was such a beautiful scene. It was a sight to see. If you’re in Rome, I highly recommend going, even if it is just for the view.
One thing that was kind of funny that happened to me this week is that I went to the Trevi fountain and there was no water in it! Later I found out that they were doing maintenance just for the afternoon. Haha bad timing on my part. Thank goodness I have the opportunity to go back when there is water in the fountain, which I will probably do this week. Hopefully tomorrow!
