What were you grateful for this week?

My host family continuing to make me feel welcome and at home. They’re seriously the sweetest!

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Trying to not eat gelato every single day 😉 But, honestly this week hasn’t been too challenging, I’ve just been getting accustomed to the whole routine of everything.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I’ve been helping out with the cooking more!

Tell us about your week!
I have officially been living in Italy for two weeks! It’s gone by so fast, but at the same time if feels like I’ve lived here half my life (except that I still don’t understand the majority of what people are saying to me).

[My host mom] went back to work this week, so I had the mornings mostly to myself, except when [my host mom] didn’t have to go to work until the afternoon.

I did quite a bit of exploring around Canale on my own. It’s pretty little, but there was a lot of cool stuff to see! And I FINALLY got myself some gelato. Best. Thing. Ever. I had it three times this week. It’s going to be a struggle to not eat it all the time!

This week they harvested grapes! I didn’t get to see the actual picking of them, just them being unloaded and put into the garage. I’ve never seen so many grapes all in one place in my whole life! The sad thing now though is that we won’t be at the country house anymore; we will spend all our time in the city house. Which, I like the city house a lot, it’s so nice and conveniently located right in the center of the city, but I liked being in the country. It reminded me of home!

[My host family’s daughter] and I have been doing a lot more together this week, and she is warming up to me. So that’s great! She is learning more English phrases and words. It’s so fun to see her learning!
Week two was great, and I can’t wait to see what the next ten weeks will bring!
