This week I took the little girl to group music lesson and stayed with her so my host mom could take the little boy to his doctors appointment.
Tell us about your week!
This week was another one for the books! It started out as just a normal week, doing our everyday things. I went on my usual walk to the beach every morning.
On Wednesday I was able to go to the market in Centro and wow it was so fun! I bought some new shoes and a new fur jacket (I’ve been wanting one since my first night in Italy!!).
Later that night, the little girl had stomach pains and started throwing up. I didn’t really think much of it, thought she must have eaten something bad, but on Thursday night, my host mom started to not feel well. As she said that her stomach wasn’t happy, I began noticing that MY stomach was starting to get upset also. We all skipped dinner that night due to lack of appetite. We all went to bed super early but at about 9 pm I could hear my host mom throwing up. I thought “oh no, well I won’t throw up I must just have car sickness or something.” HAHAHA BOY WAS I WRONG. About an hour later I woke up sweating. My stomach was in so much pain and I thought “oh jeez here we go.” I ran to the bathroom and I began throwing up. My host mom came in and we bonded in the bathroom for about an hour or two in the middle of the night just keeping each other company and trying to keep our insides well…INSIDE. Haha. Long story short, we didn’t sleep at all that night and the next day my host dad had the same thing. The aunt also did as well.
We spent all of Friday hanging out in bed and in the family room watching tv and doing puzzles, just trying to recover. It was the wildest thing ever and it hit us all so so fast! Apparently the doctor said most of the city had the same virus so that was an awesome highlight this week.
The weekend however, got much better! I was able to travel with K (also in the program) and we went to Pisa and Florence. It was a very relaxing and stress free weekend. We had several laughs, did lots of shopping (yeah I bought another fur coat, two in one week is a record), and ate some yummy food. Our legs and feet were about ready to fall off by the end of the trip but it was totally worth it to get to see the Leaning tower of Pisa! I cannot believe how beautiful this country is!
