Tell us about your week!

This week has flown!!! I also feel like I have lived in China forever!!! I am finding a good balance of time with host family and free time. At first I didn’t feel like I had any free time and I could never leave the house and it was terrible. I have mastered the subway system now that I have a SIM card! I have really connected with my host family which makes me very happy!

I have made some friends here in Shanghai from church and it makes things very fun! We went to what’s called a ‘fake market’ where they have name brand things that look and feel 99% the same but you can get them waaayyy cheap. I got a belt, white converse, and a sweet watch for about 30 US dollars. You have to barter which is an experience!

Haha. I went to a buhddist temple today and that was fascinating!! There were many people that came and were worshiping with incese and keeping and giving money. They believe in multiple Gods, and all the different God’s have different altars. It was moving to me to see the reverence they had for these Gods. I believe in one God, but I have a high respect for any belief in a higher power. So far I feel like I have been completely immersed in Chinese culture and so far I love it!!!
