What were you grateful for this week?
Rome. Everything. All of it.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
This week I was on a train that hit a girl who was attempting to take her own life. Witnessing the aftermath was pretty rough. The girl actually survived and made me reflect on how grateful I am for my life and all the blessings in it!

 

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
This week me and the girl I watch spent hours creating her outfits out of paper. We made a whole skit outfit with goggles, ski boots and poles and even a summer outfit with a bathing suit, wakeboard and a canoe!
 

Tell us about your week! 
This week I finally got to go to Rome. It was amazing to say the least. I went with k and m and m’s host moms niece. The first thing we did when we got there was walk to the colosseum. It was so big and so beautiful and so old. I can’t even comprehend that long ago and how men could have built it. It just doesn’t make sense. But I am grateful they built it so that I could come and stare at it.

We then made our way over to the Trevi Fountain. This spot is unbelievable honestly. The statues and architecture that make up this fountain are breathtaking. You could stare at it forever. Plus while there, you get to pretend you are Lizzie McGuire and wish for Paolo to come vespa you away and turn you into a pop star. (Definitely didn’t do that.) We then walked to the Pantheon which was also seriously amazing. I have learned about and studied this building in numerous art classes in college and this building is just astounding. It was so ahead of its time and just like the colosseum, it’s mind boggling to think of how men could have even made it. We then kind of stumbled upon the San Marco piazza. Which is the huge building in front of a huge roundabout (which may or may not be in the Lizzie McGuire movie as well). Every part of Rome is just breathtaking. We relaxed for a bit, got some dinner and headed back home. 

Sunday morning we headed for Vatican City. While this was our end goal, every street we were on or passed we saw amazing buildings and pieces of history. And seeing St. Peter’s Basilica had our jaws drop to the floor. The columns surround it, the statues on top of it, and the whole building itself was amazing. We headed to a pizza place that I had heard great things about for lunch. It was a long walk but after getting our pizza to go and buying some fruit, we went to a grassy area and just sat and ate. We took our time and just enjoyed being in Rome and eating some dank pizza. We had been walking for so long that our legs needed a break and we decided to head back to our Airbnb for a rest before the rest of the night. 

 

On the walk back there was a cycling race going through Rome that we got to see so that was pretty cool. We also made sure to pass through the Spanish steps on our way back as we had not seen them yet. 

After relaxing for awhile and giving our feet a rest, we went back out for dinner and some night walking in Rome. We had some amazing dinner and wanted to head to the Trevi Fountain again to see it at night. We got to it around midnight and it was still extremely crowded. We got some gelato right next to it and ended up meeting some American boys. We got to know them a bit and ended up hanging out with them. 

 

All the new people you meet while travelling is one of the best parts about it. We girls stayed up all night walking the streets of Rome. It was definitely a night and weekend I will never forget. The endless city exceeds all expectations.
