What were you grateful for this week?
Skype. I think if I couldn’t call back home the whole experience would have been a lot harder.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
I’ve had to start doing all my lasts. Last time for this, last time for that. It makes me so sad!
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I feel like by now I’ve integrated into the family I don’t know if my helpfulness gets to be deemed as something extra. I did the dishes and cleared the table and got the cat hair off the sofa and put away the groceries and this and that, but idk that’s just what ya do. Nothing special.
Tell us about your week!
I can’t believe that three months has already passed from me first getting here. It’s been crazy to think that as fast as it’s gone I’ve gotten to see so many new places and meet so many new people. I feel like I’ve got to meet a some new pieces of myself as well. I think I’ll forever be changed. You know the first time that you read your favorite book or see a great movie and you leave thinking how am I ever going to be the same after that? Well I’m feeling that way now.
Saying goodbye is hard but I’m grateful to have people to miss. I think that’s one of the most valuable things that you can have. I can’t believe I’m crazy enough to leave.
I think if I had my whole life figured out I would just stay here forever and enjoy more of the great food and the culture but I guess that’s a good goal I can work towards for later. I think the best part of it all is that this place has become my home.
They say home is a feeling not a place and I can attest to that. I haven’t made it to all the big touristy spots but I have met the grocer, and the barista and the bus driver. I’ve gotten to know the real people of Italy and I think that’s really special. Thank you, Rome Abroad, for this experience!
