What were you grateful for this week?
Grateful that I have been placed with a kind family who is so patient with me and answers all my questions.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Finding my way home at 2 in the morning! Ah!

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I went to [my host family’s daughter’s] end of school year recital! It was nice to go and support her and the family.

Tell us about your week!
This last week was kinda rough! The Fourth of July has always been a big family event for me and it was hard to be away from home during the holiday!

Tuesday I spent with B. We went to the Trevi fountain, the pantheon, and the Spanish steps. Then we went to a concert at night. It was a lot of fun! Definitely my kind of music, so I really enjoyed myself.

However, when the concert ended, the worst night of my life began. My phone died, my backup charger was dead, I only had 27 euros with me, the buses were finished for the night, the trains were finished for the night, and I was stuck in a part of town that wasn’t familiar to me. I took a cab most of the way home but didn’t have enough money to go the whole way. I assumed the tram was still running and I could catch it, but I couldn’t. So I walked. 2 miles at 2 am…it was definitely the stupidest thing I have ever done. I spent the whole way sobbing and praying that I wouldn’t be kidnapped and sold into sex slavery. I made it home all right, but have vowed never to leave home after 10 pm again. A lot of prayers were answered that night. Even if it wasn’t an ideal situation, I still made it home safe.

Anyways…I was able to go to the capuchin crypt and the catacombs this week! That was a lot of fun and very interesting. And I went back to Cinque Terre to see my childhood best friend! A friendly face was definitely necessary and helped with the homesickness a little. It was nice to talk and catch up and hug someone I knew!

On Sunday, I stopped in Pisa! The tower was very cool! Funny how it leans so much! The town is very small and I ran out of things to do quickly. Overall, the week was good and I learned a lot!
