New friends and the beach.
What was the most challenging part of this week?
I know I say this every week, but it is so dang hot. I was also a little homesick this week which was hard.

Tell us about your week!
It has been a fun week! I finally got around to seeing some of the big sights in Rome that I’ve been putting off. I went with some of the other travelers to go see the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel. It was breathtaking. There was so much to see!
Some of K’s friends from back home came to visit, so I made some new friends which is always the best! We took them around to see all the touristy things. It made me feel like a local, showing them my favorite spots. I stayed in Rome this weekend since it was St. Peter’s day and my new friends were here.
Despite melting in the sun all day, it was a fun weekend. It was nice to stay local and see my host family still. I love these kids more than anything.
Their English is improving so much! The little girl continues to amaze me with how much she picks up and retains. She loves to sing twinkle twinkle little star, the ABCs, happy birthday, and old MacDonald had a farm. She never quite gets the words right, but her renditions are even better. “Thank you, thank you little star. I love you up in the sky.” She is so adorable and keeps me laughing.
This week was definitely one of the harder weeks for me. Since I have only one month left, I’ve been reflecting on the things I’ve learned so far and the person I am. It was a good week of soul searching, but it made me miss my home and family a bit.
Travelling is wonderful for a lot of reasons. I think my favorite thing about it is that you always find a new part of yourself. I’m not the same girl I was when I first left for this adventure. I’m grateful for that.
