What were you grateful for this week?
I am grateful for my host family, they are really great and I am super glad I got them.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
Sometimes when [my host family’s daughter] is tired she doesn’t want to speak english and it makes things a little awkward. I totally get it though, it is hard to think in another language and it would be difficult to have a desire to speak english.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I bought [my host family’s daughter] a simple notebook so she could write down the things she learned in english. Anytime I have to translate a word for her we try and write it down in the notebook.

Tell us about your week!
This was a great week! I was able to go to the temple and see it. My cousin was in town and we met up there. It was really great to be able to speak in english and see a familiar face. I have also bonded with my host family. My host mom and I will typically end up talking for a while after dinner.

I also was able to go to Naples with several other girls in the program this weekend. Every one of us kept getting told how sketchy Naples is, so I was a little nervous but it was fine. It didn’t seem like the safest place but I never felt like I was actually in danger. It was good to make connections to other people in the program and to explore new cities.

I have been able to get around my area now without google maps. I also have been able to figure out the metro and haven’t gotten lost or on the wrong trains, which I was worried about. But yeah, all in all it has been really great! My family is great, the weather has been great, and exploring has been great! Looking forward to more weekend getaways!
