Tell us about your week!
This was my last (sadly) full week in Italy with this darling family. I have made so many incredible memories, and have been changed and touched personally in ways that I hope will last forever.
This whole adventure ended up being so much more than just traveling and seeing another culture; it was investing in people’s personal lives, learning (often the hard way) how to deal with transportation and people’s manner in a place that’s very different from what I’m used to, and experiencing what authentic Italian food is like inside a home of an Italian family, not just a restaurant. It was learning crazy awesome history, and getting out of my comfort zone a lot, which definitely helped me grow. I will always keep a piece of Italy in my heart.
I have been wanting to go to Verona for forever (like, dream city, y’all!) and I got to do that this weekend!! It was beautiful! My travel buddy and I went to Juliet’s house, ran around the oldest arena in Italy, quoted Shakespeare and some “Letters to Juliet” all day long, and, as we do every weekend, ate enough gelato to send us in comas for the whole afternoon. Hahah.
It was also my birthday weekend so that was definitely a special one for me.
I’m excited to be going home in a few days and getting back to the grind, but I will miss this so much. I have become so attached to the charming town I am in here and many of the people I’ve me in it over the last couple weeks. I’m very grateful for this trip, and feel extremely blessed to have been a part of this culture for a period.
