What were you grateful for this week?
More au pairs coming to my city!

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?

Bus system.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
Friday my family had some friends over and I watched and played with my host kids and the kids of the other parents.

Tell us about your week!
This week another au pair came into Gallarate so it has been amazing now having 3 other au pairs to hang out with during the week. Friends really make all the difference here!

Saturday, C from Rome Abroad came up to meet me in Milan. I brought two of the au pairs from Gallarate with me so there was a bigger group of us. We spent the day walking around shops and looking at the duomo in all its glory.

Sunday morning we took the train to Lake Como. We went in hopes of laying out and swimming in the lake, but without doing much research on Lake Como, this proved to be more difficult. We found that we needed to take the bus to a different city on the lake to get to a place to swim and lay out. So we went up and swam around and laid out and got some nice sun. As we’re trying to head back to the main city and to where our hostel is, we have major difficulty figuring out the bus system. From what we could tell, we barely missed one bus and the next wasn’t coming for a few hours. We thought about walking but realized it would take 2 hours. We felt a little stranded when a taxi drove by. We decided it might be our only chance so we flagged it down. We got back to where we were supposed to be and felt relieved. We ate some dinner and of course had some great gelato for dessert.

C and I were staying the night while the other two girls went back home. We had to do a lot more traveling, and the using of public transportation than we thought but I’ve learned to welcome every bump in the road and every adventure Italy can throw at me!
