What were you grateful for this week?

I am grateful for the people who speak English!

What was the most challenging part of this week?
I have only been here for a day but the language barrier is definitely the hardest thing so far!

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I had done the dishes when my host mom left on her way to work and she was super grateful.

Tell us about your week!
Well!!! I am finally here in France! Thank goodness! I have been waiting for this for a long time. I got here and traveled around Paris for a bit which was so fun because I hadn’t ever been there before! I traveled down and met my host family yesterday!! They are so sweet and so welcoming! My parents and I were able to just sit and talk yesterday. We all got along great. I can’t wait to get to know them all better. We went to the beach yesterday and hung out at their house it has been a really great day so far!

The city my family is living in is pretty small and because the parents are real estate agents they know almost everyone in the city. We went to the beach and they seemed to know everyone! We were saying hi to everyone and everyone knew my name because I am their au pair. It is fun to meet people the family know and love and they are excited to meet me.

Everyone here says they like my American accent which of course is funny because we as Americans don’t think we have an accent. I went to the market with one of the kids I am watching this week and that was an interesting experience. A couple people were trying to talk to me and I had to have the boy I am watching translate and it was a pretty funny because he kept laughing at me and people would just give me looks. It has been a pretty good time so far and I am excited to see what happens in the next six weeks!!
