What were you grateful for this week?
My host family. They are making me feel very at home here in Italy.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
Not being in the same time zone as my family and friends back in the USA.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I helped my host daughter make breakfast.

Tell us about your week!
This week was great! I returned back from Venice and decided to stay home this weekend to relax. The week included running errands with my host mom, sleeping in (I don’t have the kids till the afternoon), and helping my kids learn more English.

This weekend, I stayed in my host family’s village and there was a food festival in town! The main food in the village is wild boar. I guess there’s many that roam around this part of Tuscany. I haven’t seen one though yet. I hope they look the pigs on LOST hahaha.

Anyways, last night we went into the village to have dinner in the square. Before we did that, we had an aperitif at one of the best locations in the village. On one of the top hills, there is a landing where we could take in the view and drink some local wines. I was floored with how beautiful the view was.

After we enjoyed our aperitif, we went to the villages square to eat. There were samples of local cuisine including cookies, fresh bread, and other Tuscan food. Dinner was just amazing as well. It was a four course meal where I was able to meet and mingle with others from the town. There were also these three women playing the harps and it was magical. All the courses were framed around the local food (wild boar). It was some of the best food I had ever eaten. Hopefully I will be able to have some again.
