What were you grateful for this week?
My host family took me on an amazing weekend trip to a beach.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
The most challenging part was to not get too carsick. I can get carsick very easily and I had to be in the back of a car for two hours.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
While on our trip, I was a little under the weather but I still did my best to participate in all the activities the family had planned.

Tell us about your week!
Last week definitely had a slow start. The little girl finally finished all her summer classes so she was free all week. We started playing this game we call supermarket. One of us is the cashier and the other person picks one of three items and gives it to the cashier. The cashier pretends to scan it and gives it back to the other person. That’s all there is to it but she absolutely LOVES playing that game. And since she didn’t have any classes we spent a lot of time playing it last week.

Last weekend my host parents planned a super fun weekend vacation. On Friday we all packed our bags, loaded up the car and drove for about two hours until we got to our hotel that was right on the beach. It was so amazing and definitely one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. On the first day we got to eat at this amazing all-you-can-eat buffet. It was my first time eating at a buffet in China so it was interesting seeing all the food choices. After lunch we decided to check out the hot springs. There were about 5 or 6 little hot spring pools and they were all in this cave that had different colored lights shining on the walls. After that we wanted to swim in the regular pool. Hands down the largest pool I’ve ever seen. It was so long it had two separate bridges you had to swim under. After we were done swimming we went down to the beach for a little bit and then had dinner.

The next morning we got to ride on a sailboat and see the views along the coast. Later that day we got to go to a place that protects sea turtles and has a private part on the beach where sea turtles can lay eggs. I love sea turtles so it was really cool seeing them and knowing they are protected. We had dinner that night and went home the next morning. It was a really amazing weekend.
