What were you grateful for this week?
The beach.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
Speaking a different language than those around me.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.

I stayed home this weekend and helped watch the kids!

Tell us about your week!
This week was busy, busy, busy. My host family owns a bed and breakfast in the village and they have been preparing it for the upcoming weeks of tourism. They have people from all over the world stay with them; Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, the United States, other parts of Italy, etc. During the times these people stay, I bring the children to the B&B and I am able to converse with those traveling here in English. It’s very fun to speak to new people and discover why they traveled to my town. Also, I love helping my host parents with the B&B. They ask me the correct way to spell words in English, how to work something that only came with English instructions and my input and advice on how to help those traveling here.

The remaining of the week was filled with laughs with the children. It has been so great to finally build a strong bond not only with my host parents but with the children. They feel more comfortable talking with me, asking me questions, and speaking in English. We play games at the beach, at the pool, at home, etc. I can tell that they are really catching onto the English language.
