What were you grateful for this week?
The seaside.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Sunburns.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
Doing the laundry.

Tell us about your week!
This week was full of sunshine and seaside. The family had the bank holiday on Monday, so I spent the day at the beach in Ostia. It was funny to see the people in coats and the people in swimsuits sunbathing. Everyone was at the sea for their bank holiday and it was very funny to people watch. People with their significant others and family, dogs picnicking with their owners, and kids playing beach soccer. And who would’ve thought I was going to actually get sunburnt?

Monday night, my family brought back salami and liver spread, as well as salty bread and sweet bread. Easter breakfast traditions!

The boys did not have school on Tuesday, so we went to the park to play soccer and toss around the football. I was talking with my host mom about the Italian I’ve learned over dinner, and discovered I’ve actually picked up quite a bit of phrases! Mostly from the boys and the housemaid, so some random phrases such as “how disgusting”, “my turn”, “what’s happening”, “come on”, etc.

I visited the Bocca Della Veritá, the Mouth of Truth, met with my host dad’s niece and said our final goodbyes over cappuccinos and talking for a couple hours.

I forgot to stamp my bus ticket, ONE TIME, and got fined by an officer. Almost €60, silly me.

Spent the weekend in Corniglia, Cinque Terre. Unfortunately, the hikes to the other villages were closed due to landslides, but I enjoyed the view from my Airbnb balcony, sunbathing with the Italian locals on the seaside rocks, walking around the village, watching the sunset, tasting local wine, visiting the church, and watching the stars at night while listening to the see and wildlife. I’ve been gone for one day and I miss it already!
