What were you grateful for this week?
This is random, but I’m very grateful for Uber! My flight to Vienna got delayed so I didn’t get there until one in the morning and it was an hour walk from the train station to my hostel but with Uber I was there in ten minutes! I had never used it before, but I was very grateful it existed in that moment! I am also very grateful for audiobooks who teach me how to have healthy thinking habits while here in Italy.
What was the most challenging part of this week?
Feeling like I’m not very useful. The mom promises the job is easy now and that it will be harder in July, but I actually wish I had more responsibilities now. I know that’s so ungrateful. But it’s hard to feel like I’m doing things right when there’s not much to do.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I tried hard to finish the puzzle (its unfinished state has been bothering the mom, haha).
Tell us about your week!
On Wednesday, I went to Bergamo and explored the upper city (Citta Alta), with many old buildings and amazing views! It was what I imagined Italy would look like, with old bricks and narrow streets and tiny cars! I figured out that the little boy is much happier when he is constantly playing games, so I taught him and his friends as many games as I could remember.
On Friday night, I went to Vienna and absolutely fell in love with the city! There was so much art and music and intellectual history there; it reminded me of why I’m an artist and inspired me to want to develop my craft more. I think I spoke German in another life- someone said “hi-ho!” to get my attention in the train and I think I melted, it was adorable. I HAVE to go back someday when I have more time, so I can bring my mom with me, because so many things there reminded me of her.
On Sunday I was having a really hard time, feeling disconnected and like I couldn’t do anything right, but I walked around Milan’s beautiful parks and began reading “Blink” by Malcolm Gladwell, and it helped me get to a better place. I was so grateful for that!
Also I decided to plan a trip to London while the kids are at summer camp in a couple of weeks and I am SO excited! I already bought tickets for the five West End shows I’m going to see! London is one of my favorite places in the world!
