This week was amazing! We finally got some really nice weather here in Lucca and I definitely took advantage of it. I went hiking on the trail behind my house multiple mornings and sat out on the patio soaking up the sun before the boys got home.
The older boy is doing really well with his English! When I take him to swim lessons he likes to tell everyone that I’m teaching him English and then point to something and say it.
On Saturday morning I left for my trip to Venice and right as I arrived at the Venice station I decided since I had two days there I wanted to keep going to Verona, and I’m so glad I did!
Verona is easily one of my favorite places I’ve been to. Just walking out of the train station there it feels so clean and open. Everything is very user friendly and easy to get to, and it was just beautiful! Going to Juliet’s balcony was so cool and seeing the wall with all the love letters on it was so fascinating. I only had a few hours in Verona before I had to head back to my room in Venice, but I LOVED the feeling surrounding Verona.
Venice was incredible too, there’s really nothing like it. I had a tour take me to the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello, and all I can say is wow. Everything was so colorful and lively. I even got to watch a glass blowing demonstration on Murano and it was so cool!
In Venice I saw Saint Mark’s Basilica and the architecture and artworks are so beautiful. It’s hard to imagine all of the time and effort that went into building something so unique and well-crafted, especially in the time period when it was built. I hope I can go back to Venice and Verona someday!
