What were you grateful for this week?
Everything. It has been a great week. I think I’m mostly grateful for kind people who are willing to help me since I don’t know what I’m doing most of the time.
What was the most challenging part of this week?
I was sick and burst my eardrum haha.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.

Tell us about your week!
This past week has been really great! Exhausting and challenging, but great. I got sick which isn’t my favorite thing in the world, but it’s also not the worst thing that can happen. My host family has been so wonderful in taking care of me. I’m extremely grateful for their love and help. I was a little homesick because I just want my mom when I don’t feel well, but my host mom has done an incredible job of taking that place temporarily.
I went to several churches and museums in Rome this week while the kids were in school. Maybe it’s just that I didn’t go to very many museums in America, but the museums in Rome are unreal. I’ve discovered how much I love sculptures. Paintings are pretty, but a lot of them represent abstract things I don’t understand. Sculptures are really something else. These artist took a rock and made it look like a real person?? Insane.
School is almost done for the kids which means they’re getting a little antsy. With the warm weather and finals in sight, they’re ready to be done. It’s hard keeping them motivated, but I’m the same way when I’m in school so I totally understand. I can’t wait for their summer to start so I can spend more time with them.
I went to Switzerland this weekend with another Traveler. It is so incredibly beautiful there. We went to Zermatt which is where the famous Matterhorn mountain is. Everyone there was so kind and friendly. I love Switzerland! It’s definitely a place I want to revisit. 1000/10 recommend.
Because I’ve had a cold this week, there was some fluid in my ear. With the change in altitude while travelling to Switzerland, the pressure on the fluid in my ear became too much and my eardrum burst. It was really painful. I’ve never ruptured my eardrum before and hope I never do again. I had cut my trip a little short so I could go see a doctor and get medicine. Although it is a totally miserable experience, I’m so grateful for all of the help and care I’ve received from my host family and friends. Being sick and/or injured is never a fun thing, but I’m grateful for new opportunities and chances to learn. After all, bad days make for good stories.
