What were you grateful for this week?
I’m grateful to finally be in Rome! Also my host family is the best. They have been so kind and welcoming. I already feel like a part of their family.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
JET LAG! Wow it’s real. I’ve been so tired! I’m starting to get back on schedule though…kind of.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
This week I taught the boys how to play Uno the card game. I love that they say “one” instead of Uno when they have one card left! I also brought a “Trolls” book with me that had stickers. So after we read through it. The little girl and I made masterpieces with the stickers!
Tell us about your week!
This week has been very busy! I ended up spending the night in Germany when my flight had been cancelled. I was bummed at first but Franz the hotel manager told me where I could go to eat and explore. I’m glad I took his advice instead of sleeping. I got to see some amazing things!
The next day, I finally made I to Rome!! I got to meet my sweet host family and get to know their kids. The kids and I have had fun playing lots of games and reading books!
Friday I had a friend visiting Rome for one day only so we went into the city and visited the Trevi Fountain, The Museum and crypt of Capuchino, the Pantheon, the Spanish steps, and lots more.
Saturday and Sunday I got to go to Venice. I met up with a few girls. My favorite part of the weekend was visiting the Jewish Ghetto from WWII and going to the top of the clock tower where we could see all of Venice. I also went out to the island if Burano to see the colorful houses. It was beautiful. Venice is a must see, but the heat and the crowds I could do without! If you ever go to Venice be sure to wake up early and walk around while the city is quiet, the water is calm and the streets are mostly empty!
From Utah to Germany to Rome to Venice. I would say it’s been a successful first week:)
