Tell us about your week!
On Monday, my host family had some family friends in town and we went to eat on the beach! We went to this very nice restaurant during sunset and it was super magical. I was able to try my first grilled tuna! (I’m definitely not a seafood person, but thought might as well! When in Rome right!?!?! hahaha) I was also able to communicate with the family because they spoke English! The mom works for a company that helps Williams Sonoma and its sister stores pick out new items for their collection. I love everything Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn so I loved picking her brain on how she finds the items for them.
During the week it was extremely hot here. Not just because of the heat, but also the humidity. Coming from a desert in the USA, I am definitely not use to the humidity, even though I’ve been here for the past 2.5 months. I now watch the kids in the morning, so during the afternoon I’m able to cool off and make sure I don’t develop any heat sickness/illness. I only have a few weeks left so I don’t want to waste them having heat exhaustion.
This past weekend, I stayed with my host family to get some such needed downtime from traveling. The kids were with their grandparents during the weekend so I had the opportunity to spend some more time with my host parents. We enjoyed going to a wineshop on Friday that my host mom’s best friend owns, trying new wine. She even gave me the empty bottle so I could take back home and put flowers in it! Then Saturday it rained all day and I loved it! We stayed home and had some pulled pork sandwiches. Sunday night, I was invited to a political party with my host parents. There were a lot of English speakers there so I was able to talk with a lot of people!
