What were you grateful for this week?
This week I’m grateful for FaceTime and my host family.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
The most challenging part of this week was flying to Madrid. My flight was delayed causing me to miss my connecting flight to Madrid.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
This week I spent extra time with my host family. On my days off I still help the family around the house and spend time with the girls.

Tell us about your week!
The night before I left to Madrid I had two worries that would not leave my thoughts. The first was my bag getting lost so I decided to only bring a carry on with me. Well I ended up having to check in my carry on and sure enough my bag got lost. The second was missing my flight. I had two flights, one was to Texas and a connecting flight to Madrid. Well my first flight to Texas was delayed an hour causing me to miss my connecting flight. I felt so overwhelmed and to make things even worse I left my phone charger in my carry on. I arrived in Madrid eight hours after I was originally supposed to. After arriving in Madrid I realized that there was really nothing to be afraid of. After all, I still got there and my bag was found so I was overwhelmed for no reason.

I live in a small town just 30 minutes north of Madrid where everything is walking distance. It’s only been a week but I feel like I’ve already done so much. I fell asleep on the train and missed my stop. I also got on the wrong train once. I’ve done so much sightseeing and can I just say Madrid is so beautiful. My host family has gone above and beyond to make sure I feel at home. The girls I take care of are wonderful and I’ve enjoyed getting to know them. I’ll admit I did get a little homesick but FaceTime has been helping with that. This week I learned that my fears are really not that scary. Instead of worrying about what will happen I need to just live in the moment. I’m proud of myself for everything I’ve accomplished this week and I’m so excited for the next three months!
