What were you grateful for this week?
The beautiful cities I was able to see.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Figuring out different means of public transportation.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
A wow moment I had this week was taking the boys to the grocery store and the park with me in the morning when they didn’t have school for Easter break.

Tell us about your week!
This week I had the opportunity to go to the leaning tower of Pisa and to the coast on Friday with some family friends and it was so much fun! The leaning tower of Pisa truly is a sight to see and I never thought I would be standing there in person looking at it and taking pictures like I’m holding it up. The coast was absolutely beautiful too, even though I didn’t see a lot of it as it was incredibly cloudy, what I did get to see was stunning.

Then on Saturday I made a day trip to Florence. I got to go to the Uffizi museum and it was amazing. Seeing one of DaVinci’s paintings in person was breathtaking. After the Uffizi museum, I ate at a famous sandwhich shop and then headed to Ponte Vecchio. The Ponte Vecchio bridge was one of my favorite parts. I can’t even describe how cool it was to stand on the bridge and look down the river at all the houses and buildings. Finally I walked to the Santa Maria duomo and while I wasn’t able to go inside, the outside is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The architecture and designs were so intricate and unique.

Then, on Sunday I went with some missionaries to a couple’s house in Carrara. The husband is a sculptor so he took us up to the marble mines and showed us his studio. I had never seen sculptures in the making and it was so fascinating to get to see the behind the scenes look at what people see in galleries and in buildings. The marble mine was also so much more beautiful than I would ever expect a mine to be. Carrara is the definition of what I picture when I think of an Italian town and it might be my favorite place I’ve been so far!
