What were you grateful for this week?
My host dad! He is just so considerate. Like he bought me a dessert. Because everyone knows I love sweets.

What was the most challenging part of this week?
Just establishing good communication with my host family.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
Me and the Nonna eat lunch together everyday and I always clean the kitchen after.

Tell us about your week!
This week my host dad came to stay for the long weekend and we went to Matera. It is a beautiful ancient city built on the side of a hill. They had a ton of old cathedrals and artwork. It was beautiful. We toured around there one evening and got dinner in a basement type restaurant with this huge statue of Jesus watching you while you ate. It was interesting.

Also I’ve been eating lunch with the Nonna that is staying with us while the kids are at the beach. And she made spaghetti and said I eat spaghetti like a true Italian so that was a pretty cool accomplishment I’ve achieved. It’s been really hot here in Castellaneta Marina — so hot that you can’t stay in the beach in the afternoon because the sand burns your feet. So we’ve been playing games in the afternoon after lunch which has been good for the kids to learn English. It was a holiday or something because my hosts family’s friends came to the sea to stay for the week. So it was a pretty relaxing week.

All the kids wanted to learn the English games I taught the twins. And they wanted to play endless hours of Rock Paper Scissors. Because at the sea house all their family is here and friends are in and out I suggested I take a week off and go to Rome! So I spent my last few free times planning my trip to Rome. Which I am super excited and nervous about! One thing I’ve learned is that I like to travel but I miss home and my sisters. But Rome this week should be exciting!!
