What were you grateful for this week?I was grateful to be able to develop a more solid relationship with the kids I teach!

What was the most challenging part of this week?Figuring out a workable schedule with my most family.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I made a big effort this week to help my host mom with any housework that needed to be done, and she was so grateful!

Tell us about your week! This week was my first full week with my host family! It was a little different because the kids still have not started school, but I am slowly learning the schedule and way of life here in Rome. I was able to spend a lot of time with the youngest child and we became friends very quickly. He is so fun and full of energy that he enjoys every game or activity that we do. I was also able to spend time with the middle child in the family, and he is such a sweet kid. He is a master at Minecraft and loves to build houses and other random things together. I have loved being able to see the different ways that these kids learn English the best through interacting with them.

This week I made a big effort also discover more of Rome during my free hours, and saw many tourist sights as well as discovered parts of the city that aren’t as well known. I was able to take a day trip out of Rome as well, to the little town of Orvieto. I absolutely LOVED Orvieto, it was beautiful and picturesque while not being overcrowded with tourists. It was a little difficult to get to because of the train system being off, but totally worth it to get a small break from the hustle and bustle of Rome.
