What were you grateful for this week? I am so beyond grateful for the American I met at church this week.

What was the most challenging part of this week? The most challenging part of my week was not being able to speak the language — it finally caught up to me and really got to me.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. The parents were gone at a party and when they came home their house was cleaned up and the boys were out to bed without being asked.

Tell us about your week! This last week was my official full week of being an au pair! Man oh man did it have a lot of ups and downs! This week was the last week of school for the two younger boys so during the day I only had one of the boys instead of all three. It was a pretty chill week with the oldest boy. It was nice to just have him at home he is the best English speaker and we were really able to work on speaking English. Because he is the best English speaker he is able to help me with my French which is really nice because I am trying really hard to pick up some French while I am here.

Monday-Friday was school for the little boys so [one of my host family’s sons] and I hung out at the house and played games we would ride our bikes around town and we also went to the beach several times. We also went shopping for food this week a couple times which is interesting because I don’t know my way around and I don’t speak French so when we check out the cashiers probably think I’m rude because all I say is hi and then thank you because I can’t speak much else.

Because we live in a beach town of course we went to the beach! It was so much fun the water felt great and we had fun playing on the body boards. I was surprised when we got the the beach how many nude people were there and I was like well welcome to France! Friday we had an end of school year party which was so much fun to go to for the kids and they were so happy they are out of school! And then Saturday we had a wedding to go to which was so fun and so beautiful and it was so cool to see how they do weddings here in France!
