What were you grateful for this week?My birthday!

What was the most challenging part of this week?It was really hot and I got sunburned.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. My host dad had a medical emergency, so I took care of the kids all day to allow the parents to go to the hospital.

Tell us about your week! This was a whirlwind week. I can’t believe how quickly it went by! I returned home from my trip with my sister this week and was exhausted. It was so nice to be back with my host family! I missed them.

My first day back was a little chaotic as my host dad got his nose broken that morning. I played with the kids all day and tried my best to keep them occupied. We did everything I could think of! The kids love to play slap jack and go fish, so we played some games and made some crafts. I taught them how to do the cha cha slide. They loved it! They asked me to keep repeating it because they loved it so much ha. After the fourth time or so, I had to stop because I was worn out from dancing. They have so much energy.

The three year old is improving so much in her English! It amazes me that she can speak so well and understand me. She has a hard time with colors still, but we worked on animals and numbers quite a bit. She often surprises me by saying something that I never necessarily taught her. This week she said, “thank you my love” after I made her breakfast. It completely melted my heart. I guess I say that enough that she remembers it.

It was my birthday this week. Hooray! My family was so kind and got me a cake and let me make pretty much all of the decisions. I’m so grateful for them. I couldn’t ask for a better host family.

This weekend I went to Cinque Terre with some of the other travelers. It is so gorgeous there!! The buildings are bright and the sea is so blue. It was fun to go to the beach and spend some time with the other girls. I adore them. I cant believe how fast the time is going. It’s very bittersweet.
