So Much More Than Culture: S’s Week

What were you grateful for this week?Meeting other travelers.

What was the most challenging part of this week?Spending enough time with all four kids. Sometimes I spend a lot of time with just one.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I did the dishes and cleaned up after meals.

Tell us about your week! I’m still pretty new at this whole blogging thing, so hopefully this doesn’t suck haha. This week was incredible! I finally feel like I have my feet on the ground. I know a handful of Italian phrases, can understand a good amount of a conversation in Italian, and can find my way around fairly well.

The kids have been great this week! We’ve played a lot of games inside since it has been cold and rainy. I can’t wait for warmer weather so we can go to the park. Their English is improving which is awesome. I catch them saying words I use often like “come on” and “for sure.” It’s funny that you don’t realize you say certain things so much until it’s pointed out like that.

I explored Rome a bit this week. The Colosseum lives up to all the hype. It’s huge and amazing! I met some men dressed up as gladiators while I was walking to the Colosseum and one of them “proposed” to me haha. Guess I’m getting married and staying forever, sorry mom.

I love how everything is so close here. I can walk to all of the touristy spots from another. The public transportation is really nice too.

This weekend I met up with other travelers in Genova! It is such a beautiful city. We ate so much gelato and pasta haha. I don’t regret any of it. We went to a beautiful aquarium and took a ride on a ferris wheel to look over the city. It was honestly breathtaking. I’m so close to these other girls now which is the best. I’m so grateful for the friendships I’m making while on this crazy adventure. I signed up for this to learn and experience new culture, but I’m getting so much more than that.
