A’s First Week in Italy & Weekend in London

What were you grateful for this week? The chance to visit London for the weekend!

What was the most challenging part of this week?Getting adjusted to a new schedule, the time change, and language barrier.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. My first official night in I ate dinner with my host family. I offered to help and asked them questions about the parents individually to get to know them more than just the mom and dad of the kids I watch.

Tell us about your week! This week started off as a challenge for me. Being completely out of my comfort zone and not being able to communicate and talk to everyone I meet has been hard. I have been picking up on a few words here and there to use.

I used my time to explore my host family’s neighborhood. I ended up getting lost but found a cute café and the catacombs! I visited Vatican City, I didn’t get to go inside since the lines were so long and I had limited time, but walking around the city was beautiful! By the middle of the week I got to meet up with two Rome Abroad girls — we all met at Trevi Fountain, I loved throwing a coin in the fountain and making a wish! Before parting ways we got to explore the streets of Rome, stopping for pizza and taking it all in.

I booked a last minute trip to London, a city I’ve always wanted to go to for the weekend and hadn’t the time of my life! I walked into an Irish pub my first night there and ended up joining a family birthday party! Everyone was so incredibly nice I was sad to leave London. I know I’ll have more London visits in my future and can’t wait to explore more of Italy!
