What were you grateful for this week? Local Aussies knowing their way around. 

What was the most challenging part of this week?Having an Ola driver go the wrong way and almost getting us lost. 

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I hand washed crystal glasses for my host mom when she was sick and they had been sitting out needing to be washed. 

Tell us about your week! This week was pretty fun! I was able to attend my host parents’ dinner party with their friends and I tried an oyster and scallops for the first time! I didn’t like the oyster but it was an experience that I won’t forget! I have been trying to experience lots of new things and discover what I do and don’t like while I’ve been in Australia and it has been challenging but fun at the same time! 

My host mom and I went into the city the other night and we went to the Opera Bar! It was crazy getting there because we got an Ola driver (basically Uber) who must have not known the area well or he was a new driver. Our ride was supposed to cost $15 and he drove the wrong way so we ended up crossing the harbour bridge and it took a lot longer to get there and then the ride cost about $50! It was insane. 

Seeing the Opera house up close and the harbour bridge was amazing!! I love Sydney! #SydneeinSydney 

I wish that I could have been in Sydney longer than I was in Brisbane but it is what it is. It’s starting to get cold in Sydney as their winter starts in May, it’s weird that I left snowy Utah, came into boiling hot Brisbane, and now I get to Sydney and the weather is perfect but now it’s getting colder! Then when I get home it will be warm and close to summer again! 

I’m starting to realise that I’m going to be going home soon and I’m getting sad to leave! I’m so thankful that I’ve had a host family that I have been able to get close with so it makes it harder to leave. I will cherish the memories I’ve made here and never forget this experience!
