What were you grateful for this week? My Host Mom!!!

What was the most challenging part of this week? Getting a taxi (doesn’t work like the movies).

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. This week, my host dad was in meetings all day everyday. I helped my host mom with the kids for most of the day and helped get them to sleep at night.

Tell us about your week! This week was so so good! After getting back from a weekend in Naples and Pompeii, I came back to my city in Italy and spent time with my host family. I honestly could not be with a better family. They care for me so so much and I feel like their own daughter! I knew that my host mom has been busy studying her english class and for her PhD, but she took a day off from studying this last week and took me to San Marino! They view there is so pretty and it was about a 30 minute drive. That was very nice of her to do for me! We spent the morning walking around San Marino and checking out all of the cute little shops. She kept taking pictures of me which was so cute! Then she said “SELFIE” so we took a selfie haha I just love her!

We came across a little shop with several different things made out of leather. Casually she starts asking me which ones are cute (she always asks my opinion on things which I absolutely love!!). So we chose this cute leather purse and she purchased it for what I thought, herself. When we got home she pulls out the leather purse and hands it to me: “A present for you.” MY HEART MELTED OMG SHE IS THE CUTEST PERSON ALIVE!!! I couldn’t thank her enough for being so amazing to me!

On the weekend, my friends A and K came to my city for Saturday (because I live at the nicest beach here) and we spent the day at the market and at the beach walking in the water, singing, dancing, and taking pictures. Later in the day we put our shoes back on and went to look for some souvenirs. It wasn’t until we had already walked for 15 or so minutes that I realized I didn’t have my phone. I set it down to put my shoes on and FORGOT TO PICK IT UP!!! My good friend K, automatically just starts RUNNING back to where we were sitting. We are all running, probably looking like a bunch of wild chickens crossing the road BUT WE FOUND MY PHONE! Grateful for such amazing friends that care about my belongings as much as they care about their own.

Later that night we took a train to Bologna to go spend the night there and wake up and explore. We tried to go to a Dance Party but when we got there the line was taking forever so we started to walk back to the hotel. It was very late at night and A and I were wearing heels. We had about a 25 minute walk back, but our feet were DEAD! We took off our shoes but it didn’t make it much better because the ground was freezing! A tried to wave down like 5 different taxis and it was the funniest thing ever watching her fling her arms around as taxis just passed by. Finally there was one at the stoplight and he saved us from walking the rest of the way back.

On Sunday, we woke up very peaceful and ate some yummy breakfast. We got ready and spent the day shopping and eating gelato. Walked around Bologna and had a blast with my friends just enjoying the crazy warm weather and sunshine! This week was a solid 10/10 week! Can’t believe I only have 3 weeks left 🙁 Time is flying by!!
