What were you grateful for this week? Making a new friend.

What was the most challenging part of this week?Losing [my host family’s son] at school.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. This week the housekeeper wasn’t feeling good for one day, since she didn’t come their was no one to make the kids beds or fold the laundry. Although she does much more than that, I wanted to help do those two things to say thank you to my host family for everything they do for me.

Tell us about your week! One day this week when I went to pick up the two older boys from school they wanted to play after. Which was nothing unusual, so I went outside with them and sat on the stairs by their backpacks while they played. Their were a lot of kids outside that day, and after scanning the crowd a few times I realized I couldn’t see [one of them] anymore. I started to worry a little and got up and walked around, still not seeing him. Finally I asked his older brother if he knew where he was, he said “no.” So we both kept looking. Long story short we went into the school building, up all the stairs, and outside there are soccer fields up on the roof. Luckily that’s where he was, just watching a game. I was relieved I didn’t have to call his mom and tell her I lost her son.

The best part of my week was Sunday, it had been like 7 weeks, and I had not gone to church once. This was mostly due to being gone on the weekends but this weekend I was here in Milan. I lucked out because the talk that day was in English so I understood everything.

Ok I lied, the best best part of my week was when my boyfriend came out to visit me! He will be spending a week here while my host families kids are on break and they are skiing in the mountains.
