Planning an Engagement: A’s Week in Rome

What were you grateful for this week? Medicine.

What was the most challenging part of this week? Being sick and traveling to Rome.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. Something extra I did for my host family this week was did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen when [their housekeeper] hadn’t gotten to it yet.

Tell us about your week! This week I jinxed myself, I thought I would be the only one out of my host family and friend group who wouldn’t get sick. I was wrong…I got a fever, cold, and migraine on my birthday (Wednesday through the weekend when I was in Rome).

Even though I didn’t feel great, this weekend was so cool! One of the other girls in the group M, got engaged! We were friends before coming out to Italy so her boyfriend contacted me weeks ago to help him surprise her. He flew into Milan a day early and from there we took a train to Rome. M had to be with her host family’s kids until that evening. When it was dark, we took her to a beautiful park with a view called Pincio. I took her camera and said I was going to take a picture of her, as she was smiling for the camera her boyfriend comes out with flowers! She was so excited to see him a day early but even more excited when he got down on his knee and showed her the ring and asked her to marry him. This whole time me and K (another member of the group) were taking pictures and videos. It was definitely a cool experience to be apart of.

The next day we rented a car and drove to satunria hot springs! It was not as warm as we all imagined, or hoped but it was still a very good experience.
