Making Friends in Naples: E’s Week

What were you grateful for this week?I was grateful for the time that I had this week just to do my own thing and not have to worry about being somewhere at a certain time or different daily expectations.

What was the most challenging part of this week? There were so many options in things that I could do or places that I could go, lots of decisions to be made.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. Well, honestly I didn’t really see my host family this week because they were out of town on vacation, but I did come home earlier than I normally would have on Sunday from my vacation to be with them as they also got home on Sunday!

Tell us about your week! Another week in the books! It was a little bit different of a week, as my host family was out of town on vacation, so I had the week off to do whatever it was that I wanted. It was really nice to be able to take a couple of days for myself and catch up on the things that I wanted to, and then it was super fun to be able to travel a little bit! I didn’t go too far, but I ended up taking the train down to Naples and it was beautiful! I went alone but ended up making a lot of friends while I was there, so that was so fun!

It was nice just to be able to meet others my age that are also out travelling and exploring, all for various reasons. Every person has a story and we have no idea what they are until we get to know them, and that can be one of the most rewarding things. It is important to make time for yourself and challenge yourself in ways when you are alone, but it is also equally important to reach outwards and make connections with others. Finding the balance between the two can take work, but they are both so important and so incredible! I’m just grateful for the opportunity that I got to do both this week!
