K’s Weekend in Rome

What were you grateful for this week?I am extra grateful for friends this week.

What was the most challenging part of this week? The most challenging thing this week was that the child I’m looking after got bronchitis and then I got sick too.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I spent extra time helping look after the child while she was home sick from school.

Tell us about your week! This week I started a class to help me learn Italian. It is much harder than I expected. The teacher doesn’t speak English so I mostly just guess at what is going on. I hope that after a few more weeks though that I’ll catch on. I feel like knowing even just a little bit of Italian would help me to teach them English. I met some au pairs in the class that are not part of Rome Abroad, but are doing pretty much the same thing. I was really happy to find out there are people close by who also speak English so I can have people to talk to! It is hard for me to meet up with people during the week because the next closest person is an hour bus ride away.

This week was a little rough because both me and the child I look after got sick. But no worries, we are getting better!

I got to go to Rome this weekend! It is so beautiful. It was crazy just walking down what looked like a normal street then suddenly realizing you’re standing next to ancient ruins. I met up with a few other girls from Rome Abroad and we went to the Colosseum, the pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, as well as a park overlooking all of Rome. It was amazing. I bought a really pretty water color painting of the Colosseum while we were there. There is so much street art here, I love it!
