Loving Brisbane: K’s Week

What were you grateful for this week?

My host family treating me just like family.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Nothing was very difficult.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.My host mom had been wanting to organize my host sisters’ closet but is always super busy, so I went through and reorganized it!

Tell us about your week! This week was very nice and relaxing. I stayed around Brisbane for the weekend because I’m trying to save money for traveling in February, but there’s really a ton of free and fun things to do around town!! South bank always has things going on, farmers markets, public outdoor pool areas, and awesome street performers. During the week I had a few times that really tested my patience and stomach (lots of poop this week) but I seriously could not be happier with what I’m doing. I’ve grown a bond with my family and I already know it’s going to be so difficult to leave! The girls seriously teach me something new about life and myself everyday, and that’s exactly what I was hoping to get from this experience. I really feel valued with my family, my thoughts and feelings aren’t swept under the rug ever. I love making the girls jewelry for dress up and trying out funky new crafts because life is funner when you have fun and make things a little silly. I love that I can go out and explore the city with new friends that I would never even know if I wasn’t here doing this right now. I’ve made lifelong friends and have tried so many new things. I just take life day by day, and wait to see what the future has laid out for me!
