What were you grateful for this week? This week I am grateful for familiar faces. I was able to visit my cute friend from back home that is studying in Florence. It was just nice to see a familiar face. Felt like a piece of home was with me.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?My host mom went out of town, and so the grandmother was staying with the kids and me. The grandmother is very opposite from my host mom & to be honest I felt like I was in her way all the time. I felt out of place & that I honestly couldn’t do anything right for her.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. If I’m being honest I don’t feel like I had a wow moment this week…this week was a little more difficult & I just felt like I wasn’t doing anything right.
Tell us about your week! This week was a weird week around the house. Things are kinda different right now, the other nanny who’s usually here full time is on vacation for the time being, and so there is another lady filling in at the moment. The host family parents were out of town.
However, [my host family’s daughter] was very friendly & ackwowledging me. She can be stubborn sometimes, but she actually tried speaking with me a few times at dinner which is great because she isn’t around all the time for dinners. And when she is she doesn’t love to use English.
However my weekend was amazing. I traveled alone for the first time. I’m very proud because up until now I’ve always had a buddy by my side. The European trains can be kinda intimidating. I traveled to Florence to visit my friend who is living there and going to interior design school. She has a cute little apartment and I was able to stay there with her and her roommate. They were so great to me! They showed me all around Florence! From the tourist attractions that are MUST SEES to little local restaurants on the other side of the bridge it was amazing. I love Florence and actually plan to go back and spend another weekend. We weren’t able to go in the Uffizi, but we walked right by it. We saw the Duomo which is incredible, I actually liked it more than the Duomo in Milan. We ate the most amazing foods!! We even visited the Gucci Garden, which is a museum of everything Gucci! I’m a fashion fanatic so this was right up my alley!
My favorite part of Florence was hiking up to Piazzale Michelangelo last night after sunset. It was ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING!! I’ve never seen such an amazing view…being able to see all of Florence, and the way the Duomo was glowing. We sat on some steps listened to a beautiful lady sing and play the guitar. Her voice was like an angel. I felt so at peace with life. There is nothing better than great company & an amazing view. Italy just keeps getting better <3
