What were you grateful for this week?Making new friends, and becoming part of the family.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Overcoming being tired.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. My host family lives around a large group of kids and I showed the girls how to do makeup! They all loved it and laughed together.
Tell us about your week! This week felt like it flew by and I am positive this is how the rest of my time here will be like. This week I met my host family’s oldest son who speaks fluently! He was way fun to talk to, and we became good friends.
I also have become really good friends with the younger son. We joke around and tease one another, I love it. When thinking about how to teach English and keep him engaged I decided on teaching a few card games. We had a blast! He and I both are very competitive and so it was fun to see how we both would react, win or lose.
While being here I feel like I have gained 9 new little siblings. And two of the families have some older children that have become my good friends! I really feel that I am included as a part of the family here and I so appreciate it.
I also just appreciate how Italians handle life, if something happens it is not the end of the world, it’s just life and you deal with it. My friend and I really had to test that out this week when we took the wrong train and ended up two hours away in Florence. It was quite the adventure, but we were able to laugh it off and have a great time.
Last thing, this week we got to go meet up with a couple people and go to Cinque Terre, it was BEAUTIFUL. Best part, I got to meet up with a friend I haven’t seen in 8 years. She lives in Milan now, and made a trip over to spend the day with me. I loved it.
