What were you grateful for this week? This week I am very grateful how natural and easy it has been for me to integrate myself as a member of the family, it was effortless!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? There is too much shopping in Rome…
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I don’t have anything huge I did because it’s been less than a week since I’ve been here and we’re still getting to know each other. However I try to offer help whenever I see the need, such as helping with dishes, taking out the garbage, distracting the girls when they are fighting, etc.
Tell us about your week! This week has been fantastic! My host family has been a delight to be with, and I’ve even laughed so hard my cheeks have started to hurt. The girls and I got along instantly! I hope that they will become like my little sisters, and that I can be a role model for them. My host parents are so kind and generous towards me. I get the feeling that they really want me to have a nice time in Italy, and not just with their family. They are constantly pointing out places we pass while in the car. More often than not, they are taking the long route so that I can see these places. It makes me feel well cared for and excited to be here! I was able to have some free time in Rome to explore my new home. It is incredible, and a little bit overwhelming because there is so much to see and do. I’m relieved that I don’t have to see it all in just a few days. We spent the night at their seaside home in San Felice Circeo, which is where I will be spending a lot of time. It is a beautiful, picturesque town. Their home is incredible, and set just above the bay and beach with great views of the mountains. Although we only spent the night, I got a good taste of what life is like here. We had every meal around the table together, with very traditional dishes from the area. Extended family were there too, so it felt as if I were apart of one big Italian family!
Today we are heading for the Dolomites. I have always wanted to visit these mountains, and I am so beyond excited to feel a little piece of home. Catch me hiking all week! Ciao ciao
