Under the Tuscan Sun: K2’s First Week!

What were you grateful for this week? The Mediterranean Sea, and gelato.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Jet lag.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I gave them a gift from home!

Tell us about your week! This was the first week! Woo, somehow we made it here. From planes to trains, and trains not working so switching to buses, and doing it all without working cell phones. Now my cell phone works, but really I have embraced this Italian lifestyle from day one.

My family didn’t get here until Friday so I was able to stay with my friends host family for the first three days. They were so sweet and kind to us. Their house was like a scene from a movie, up in the Tuscany hillside overlooking vineyards, the sea, and some medieval towns. Honestly, every hour of the day it is a breath taking view! While we were with them we taught them simple phrases like “what’s up?” And ate way too much gelato (or maybe not enough)!

When my family arrived they picked me up, showed me where we will live, and of course we went and got gelato! I have tried so many flavors it’s been amazing.

Back to where we live, so they live here for the summer so it is a small beach house close to the Mediterranean. It is fun, they have two sons! An 18 year old, who speaks fluently, and an 11 year old who knows hardly anything. So he and I will spend a lot of time together. We have started to go over basic greetings and how to find a bathroom, it’s been fun so far. I am excited to see what this next week holds! More trips, more experiences, and much more fun!
