What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Getting out of my lazy slump.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. It was another bad week for wow moments.
Tell us about your week!
Monday: I didn’t have much to do, so I got sucked into a book for the majority of the day. After the kids finished with daycare I hung out with the oldest. He seems to like me a bit more now which is a relief and even seems more willing to learn English. In the evening we stayed home and went to bed early.
Tuesday: After such a lazy day on Monday, I went on a bike ride into town. I wanted to shop a bit but didn’t really find anything I liked. I returned home for lunch and to hangout with the oldest while the youngest slept. Once the youngest woke up I went back to town to catch up with A5 who had been in Greece over the weekend. It was nice to be with someone from home. In the evening, [my host mom] and I went out with some of her friends for dinner and afterward we went dancing at a disco tech. It was Italian night, so I only knew 4 songs from the entire night. But it was fun, it started out slow and the songs changed from fast to slow quite a bit. But overall it was enjoyable. We didn’t get home until 5am.
Wednesday: After being out so late, I slept until 12. The oldest had a friend coming over that afternoon so I didn’t have much to do. I did a little English teaching until his friend came over. For the rest of the afternoon I watched the 3 kids and made sure they didn’t hurt themselves. This week has not been a productive week. I will have to do more next week.
Thursday: I got up early and began my trip to London. The trip went well, made it safely and without incident. I walked all over the city and saw the major sites. Sadly Big Ben is under repairs so I was unable to see it in all its glory. I walked nearly 40,000 steps.
Friday: I took it a little easy this day because I was sore from all the walking the day before. I mostly walked through the gardens. I strolled through Hyde Park and Kensington Park and enjoyed my lunch by the London Eye. I met up with a friend from school and we headed to Paris for the rest of the trip. We took the Chunnel train to Paris which got delayed about 3 hours. Once we reached our hotel we headed out to go view the Eiffel Tower, louvre, and Arc de Triumph at night.
Saturday: It was a relaxed day in Paris. Walking around the city and renting bikes to see some of the sights during the day. Also began the journey back to Italy, taking a night train from Paris to Venice.
Sunday: The night train was not the greatest thing in the world but it wasn’t terrible. I arrived in Venice around 10 and chose to wander around the city before continuing on to Lignano. Let me just say Venice is a beautiful city and I will need to go back and spend more time there. Second, the trains and buses in Italy are not the greatest. Usually they are late and there are so many unexpected delays and you are not given information about what is going on. My train was one stop away from the station I needed when it got delayed for 70 minutes and the train didn’t have any air conditioning. The shower I took when I finally made it back to Lignano was the best of my life.
