So Many Great Sides to Italy: J’s Week

What were you grateful for this week?Nice Italians.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?My friend losing her phone.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. This week the family celebrated the grandmas birthday. We got together at a tennis club and had dinner. The kids all went to play outside so I went to watch them and play with them so the adults could talk.

Tell us about your week! This week I went out quite a bit to hang with the other au pairs in my city. V, who is with Rome Abroad, is leaving with her family on vacation so we hung out a lot knowing we wouldn’t see each other after this week.

This weekend I went to Omegna, which is a city on lake Orta. I went with 3 other au pairs in my city, all of which are not with Rome Abroad. It has definitely been a blessing having them here! We got an amazing Airbnb that had a sweet view, a lawn, and a swimming pool. We wanted this to be a relaxing weekend and it mostly was. When we got there we walked into town to get something to eat. After two and a half months of living in Italy you think I would remember that restaurants close in the hours before dinner but I once again forgot so we were scrambling to find places that were open. We found one and had a very early dinner. We ended up getting groceries to take back to the Airbnb to feed us for the rest of the weekend. We went back and swam and relaxed for the rest of the night. One of the girls I was with had realized she left her phone at the grocery store. The store was closed so we had to wait till the next morning to go in. We also looked up on find my iPhone to see where her phone was. It wasn’t at the store but we hoped we could still find it. No one at the store saw it so we walked to the address that find my iPhone told us. We ended up knocking on people’s doors asking them if they had seen or taken a phone. We asked quite a few people and almost gave up when we asked an older man, he didn’t see it but decided to call his son who lived in the same area. Turns out his son had it! We met with him and his son and they were so nice and offering us food and drinks and to feed us dinner. Such an insane blessing to be able to get my friends phone back. And also so crazy the amazing people you get to meet from the strangest of situations! We ended out the day with swimming and relaxing by the pool. It was such a nice change from the usual endless walking and site seeing. So many great sides to Italy I get to see.
