What were you grateful for this week?My host family!

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Not going to lie, being patient was pretty challenging this week. It was the first week of summer vacation so the kids were at home most of the day and that caused for some contention.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I think just the fact that I have realized when I need to step in to help my host mom out. For example, when the little one is throwing a temper tantrum, I know what to say or what to do to help him be better. Like I offer to get gelato because I know that is something that he really enjoys! And it normally works out all right.

Tell us about your week! As I mentioned, I am grateful for my host family! Mostly because this was my last full week with them and I can’t help feeling sad but grateful that they opened up their home to me. This week was different than the others because as mentioned before, it was the first week of summer vacation for the two older kids so they were at home and they felt the need to always be entertained. Which was a little difficult because I mostly had to watch the little one, but they also wanted my attention. It was also a huge distraction for the little one to have his older brothers at home which made watching him a little challenging. But it worked out in the end!

This weekend was a little different, I didn’t go with other au pairs to visit some place. I actually went with my host family to their summer home in the island of Elba. And let me tell you, it was beautiful! We went on the beach, ate crepes and gelato. We went on their boat and go to swim in the sea and the sea was so blue, no pictures could do it justice!

Unfortunately, I did end up getting sun poisoning on top of cold a nasty cold. So I did end the trip not so hot, but overall, it was such a great time and I really enjoyed being able to hang out with my host family before I leave.
